Open Call ‘ACTIVATING URBAN VOIDS’
IDEA COMPETITION – PROJECT SPACE 2012
Wonderland invites teams from around Europe to submit independent ideas and radical concepts to find new ways for including young citizens in the planning process and to depict alternative approaches in urban planning.
In september 2012 Placemakers will host the Project Space in the fast changing and upcoming area Amsterdam Noord. The project will be about involving young citizens as city experts in order to renew city spaces together with developers and planners as a solution towards sustainable urbanism. In the Project Space we learn how to incorporate these new ways of developing the city – both social and physical – by doing a collective Placemaking activity. We’re inviting teams with experience in innovative methods of co-creation with young people.
Together with local and international architecture teams, Wonderland enables you to discuss the current situation and to find new strategies and ways of planning. Your ideas should give an impulse to the local situation and help ignite a debate while generating transferable concepts.

SayTaiwan experience for Placemakers
To celebrate the centennial founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Council for Culture Affairs Republic of China (Taiwan) organized the International Youth Week, ‘SayTaiwan‘ for which international guests were invited to Taiwan to experience the local lifestyles – to know more about Taiwan and its influence on the world.
As a Placemaker and urban researcher I was selected to stay two weeks in Taiwan. Here I observed people’s influence urban rhythms and local initiatives. At the SayTaiwan blogI share my experiences and at the Placemakers blog I write about Taiwanese neighbourhoods, interactions and places for youth in the urban environment.
